Favourite Board Books: 6 - 12 months

This post takes 2 minutes to read

This is the final instalment in my series of posts on books my daughter liked in her first year. And I managed to post it before she turned two! You can also read my post on books for 0-3 months and the one on 3 to 6 months.

From about 6 months she started to express strong feelings about reading time, and we entered the stage of repeat readings. She also began to interact more with them, including wanting to turn pages at high speed while being read to, looking through books on her own, and eating books.

Some particular favourites include:

The Little Gardener by Jan Gerardi

I picked this up at random in an op shop because my mum likes gardening. It is a very simple book but we love the bright flower illustrations and lifting the flaps.

Once I Heard A Little Wombat by Renee Treml

She really loves these books, they're excellent for reading aloud and she loves bouncing along to the rhythm of the story.

Where Is The Green Sheep? by Mem Fox and Judy Horacek

A classic for a reason, this one is lots of fun. We particularly enjoy the moon and star sheep.

A Busy Day For Birds by Lucy Cousins

Initially, she just enjoyed looking at the bright illustrations of birds, but soon we were also enjoying reading along with all the different bird activities. This is definitely also one she gravitated towards when playing with the books by herself and has the honour of being the first book she's tore the entire front cover off (though she did this at 13 months)
